A Cleveland woman was among three people who died in a Sunday crash in Hall County.
The two-vehicle wreck happened on Ga. 365 just south of Kubota Way around 12:10 a.m. on May 30, according to information released June 1 by the Hall County Sheriff’s Office.
HCSO said, according to the initial investigation, 27-year-old Daney Nava of Lilburn was driving a 2013 Volkswagen Jetta south on the northbound inside lane of Ga. 365 when it hit a northbound 2015 Jeep Patriot Sport that then flipped on its side and caught fire.
Nava and the driver of the Patriot, Kristen Nicole Mitchell, 23, of Cleveland, died in the collision, as did an 8-year-old passenger in the back of Nava’s car, the HCSO said.
A northbound 2006 Chevrolet Tahoe C1500 hit debris in the road after the wreck, but no one in the vehicle was injured.
HCSO deputies and Hall County Fire Services responded to the scene. Georgia Department of Transportation crews closed the northbound lanes of Ga. 365 for the preliminary investigation. The lanes reopened around 4:30 a.m.
The HCSO’s Accident Investigation Unit continues to investigate the wreck. Anyone with information about the crash is being asked to contact Sgt. J. Morgan at 770-718-2383.
Mitchell was a 2015 graduate of White County High School, where she was also a student-athlete, and was fond of hiking and the outdoors, according to her obituary. She was a member of Cleveland Presbyterian Church.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, June 2.
