Mike Melton named interim county manager

Former county manager Mike Melton will return to the post on an interim basis beginning March 28.

The White County Board of Commissioners announced the move Thursday morning, March 24, following a called meeting. He will temporarily fill a vacancy created by the recent resignation of Joey Cason, whose last day was March 21.

Melton previously served as county manager from 2012 until retiring in May 2020.

“As the Board continues our search for a full-time county manager, the Board has asked Mike to act as interim manager on a short-term basis," said County Chairman Travis Turner. "The Board wants to see our citizens served with the best customer service, and Mike’s working knowledge will help keep business moving forward. I appreciate Mike’s willingness to return to serve our citizens on an interim basis.”
