A press release from White County School System Superintendent Dr. Laurie Burkett this evening stated that today, March 12, Gov. Brian Kemp gave guidance on prevention of COVID-19 (coronavirus) and decisions that were being made for the state government. Following Gov. Kemp's call to action, the decision was made to close White County School next week, March 16-20. The school system will re-evaulate for the following week on Thursday, March 19.
The statement stated that at this moment, there are noconfirmed cases in the White County School System.
White County School System will post updates on its website and will continue to share information with families and employees as it becomes available.
At school tomorrow, Friday, March 13, students will be provided with material and information to help minimize the loss of instruction during next week.
"Thank you for your flexibility as we strive to keep our school community safe," Burkett said.
