Josephine 'Jo' Chastain Jones, 87, of Cleveland, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 17, 2022.

Mrs. Jones was born on Dec. 4, 1934, to the late Sherman and Louise Ledford Chastain. She was a homemaker and mother. She moved to White County in 1970 from Atlanta, Georgia. She was a wonderful cook and loved canning and freezing. Mrs. Jones was a member of Center Grove Baptist Church and loved her church family and church life. She could always be found at any of her grandchildren's or great-grandchildren's school events. In addition to her parents, Jo was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Jones; daughters, Patricia Diane Jones, Judy Sharon Jones, Barbara Jean Jones, and Bully Baby Jones; sons, Gordon Melvin Jones and Ernest Lee Jones; seven brothers; three sisters; great-grandchild, Baby Tripp; and son-in-law, Kerry Davidson.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Alvin and Jackie Jones; daughters and sons-in-law, Marlene and Wesley Flanagan, and Carol and Fritz Abernathy; daughter, Connie Davidson; grandchildren, Jeremy Wesley and Natalie Flanagan, Cara and Kipp Jameson, Chieree and Levi Hulsey, Justin and April Abernathy, Claudia and Mark Wilkes, Holly and James Mobley, and Candi and Tommy Ayers; special grandchildren, Stacy Swanson, Robin Norton, and Amber Turner; step-grandchildren, Billy Sisum, Jr., Cathy Cantrell, Richard Sisum, Zachary Jameson, and Lawson Mobley; great-grandchildren, Michael DeVincentis, Emily Miranda, Robert William Ferraro, Elijah Wilkes, EmmaGrace Wilkes, Addison Ayers, Kaydence Ayers, Harper Jameson, Emmersyn Jameson, Conor Flanagan aka 'Little Bear' and another on the way.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Hospice of Northeast Georgia, especially to Heather, Rebecca, Jean, Debra, and Janet.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2022, at Center Grove Baptist Church. The Rev. Donnie Wilkes, the Rev. Gary Heffner, and the Rev. W.A. Jenkins officiated. Interment followed in Hayesville Baptist Presbyterian Cemetery in Hayesville, North Carolina.
