White County is the new home of a Georgia Recreation Parks Association's Class C state champion.
Last weekend in Evans County, the Lady Warriors' 10U team went 4-0 to capture the state title.
Members of the 10U girl's team are Camilla Anderson, Bree Brookshire, Bailey Collins, Allie Fowler, Kinsley Hall, Evelyn Knight, Adalyn Morgan, Naomi Nicely, Ansleigh Vandiver, and Kara Watkins.
“I'm kind of speehless to be honest,” said head coach Dexter Morgan, who coached the team along with assistants Courtney Morgan and Chip Brookshire. “This is a great group of girls. They have worked extremely hard. They give 100 percent all the time, in practice and in the games. They never complain and they show a lot of dedication. I can't say enough about how hard they have worked.”
The Lady Warriors had to battle Putnam County in the title game, earing a 26-25 win in overtime.
The Lady Warriors opened the tournament with a 19-17 win over Fannin County in pool play, and then beat Glennville 27-6 in the first round of bracket play.
The Lady Warriors knocked off McIntosh County 26-21 in the semifinals to earn a spot in the championship game.
The county's 8U team came close in bringing back another state title to Cleveland after finishing second in the state tournament in Bryan County.
The Lady Warriors, coached by Matt London, Drew Whitlock, and Bryan Teague, posted a 2-2 record and advanced to the title game before falling to Fannin County by 20-6 margin.
Members of the 8U girl's team are Bentley Allison, Myla Carter, Malaiah Coley, Julianne Harris, Falyn Jones, Sawyer Kennedy, Madilynn London, Haley Norris, Brianna Oakes, and Emilee Teague.
The 8U team dropped a 23-4 decision to Fannin County in a pool game, but bounced back to beat Heard County 25-7 in the opening round of bracket play. The Lady Warriors knocked off Turner County 22-17 in the semifinals to move onto the championship round rematch with Fannin County.
White County's 10U boy's team competed in the Class C state tournament in Rabun County, finishing fifth.
Members of the 10U boy's team, coached by Carlos Lowery, Victor Moss, and Adam Cash, are Jonah Cash, Ashton Elrod, Conner Henson-Eillington, Jaxin Hoosline, Cash Lowery, Carter Moss, Owen Rogers, Grayson Schindler, Lane Stanley, and Jackson Sutton.
The Warriors posted a 47-43 win over Heard County in pool play, but dropped a 44-22 decision to North Bryan in the opening round of bracket play.
