Contested race emerges for City Council

With candidate qualifying next week for city elections later this year, one race appears to already be forming for Cleveland,  and a Helen incumbent does not plan to seek another term. Qualifying for those elections is scheduled for Aug. 16-20. Election Day will be Tuesday, Nov. 2.

McDonald eyes future in bid for office

CJ McDonald says he plans to qualify for the Ward 4 seat on the Cleveland City Council, currently held by Bradley Greene. McDonald, 30, is a project manager for Charles Black Construction Company in Cleveland.

Meet the school resource officers

The upcoming school year is bringing some new, and returning, faces to White County campuses as school resource officers (SRO). This year, all SROs are White County Sheriff’s Office deputies and will be covering all six of the system’s schools.

White County schools to welcome more than 4,100 students Friday

It’s that time. Classes are scheduled to resume Friday, Aug. 6, for 4,123 White County School System students.

White County Board of Education members pushed back last week against allegations that a critical race theory agenda is being promoted in schools.
