by Samantha Sinclair White County News After about 35 minutes of discussion in executive session Tuesday night, the Cleveland City Council decided to purchase the former Ward’s Funeral Home property just behind Freedom Park. Per the motion made by Councilman C.J.

Inmate dies at jail

by Noah Johnson White County News A White County inmate passed away while in custody at the White County Detention Center. On Thursday, Aug. 24 around 5:45 a.m. Charles Anthony McLeroy, 54 of Athens was found deceased in his bed by jail staff.

Helen has four candidates vying for two city commission seats — Mervin Barbree, Josh Garrison, Lee Landress and Randy Summers.
