White County News Sports Editor Mark Turner was honored by the Georgia Press Association last week for placing first in the category of Best Sports Photo in the annual Better Newspaper Contest, which features newspapers from across the state.

Ambulance service to cost county more

The cost of providing ambulance service to White County residents continues to rise. The White County Board of Commissioners agreed Monday to a three-year renewal of a contract with Northeast Georgia Medical Center for ambulance service at a cost of over $1 million a year.
