If you noticed artists with their easels at work along the roads in Sautee Nacoochee last Friday and Saturday, it was several creative individuals braving the cold, rain and wind as they painted landscapes of our beautiful area.
Sponsored by the Sautee Nacoochee Center and Skylake Galleries this painting experience drew local artists as well as others from North and South Carolina and Tennessee. Their mission was to complete paintings on Friday and to paint a finished landscape in two hours on Saturday in a Quick Draw competition. Award ribbons and cash prizes were presented at a reception Saturday afternoon at SNC.
Artists who received honors for their paintings were:
Three Merit Awards of Excellence - Lamar Gilstrap of Douglasville, Ga.; Brian Murphy of Asheville, N.C. and Carol Conti of Franklin, N.C. Third Place - Joe Basco of Hiawassee, Ga.
Second Place - Brenda Pinnick of Woodstock, Ga.; First Place - Jill McGannon of Suwanee, Ga.
Skylake Galleries Best of Show - Stephanie Amato of Milton, Ga.; and People’s Choice - Mary Negron of Cumming, Ga.
