If you see a lot of law enforcement at White County High School on Friday, Oct. 4, don’t panic – it’ll only be a drill.

The White County School System, in conjunction with multiple public safety agencies, will be conducting an active intruder drill at WCHS from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., said assistant school superintendent Scott Justus. Truett McConnell University will also provide assistance and observe the demonstration.

“They will be doing a demonstration on an active intruder situation,” he says. “In general, going over how to handle certain scenarios.”

Justus says the drill is intended to ensure the safety of those on campus.

“Our number one priority is to keep our kids and staff safe,” he says. “We believe in order to do this, we must practice situations in order to help us be prepared as much as possible.”
