The festival is the longest running in the U.S., ending on Oct. 29.
The parade’s grand marshal was Bob Stacey of Hofbrauhaus USA.

A body found in Lavonia could be missing White County resident Douglas Cordell Barnes.
On Monday, Sept. 4, the Lavonia Police Department reported that they were investigating the death of an unidentified person found in Lavonia.

Inmate dies at jail

A White County inmate passed away while in custody at the White County Detention Center.
On Thursday, Aug. 24 around 5:45 a.m. Charles Anthony McLeroy, 54 of Athens was found deceased in his bed by jail staff.
