The White County government could contest its population count from the 2020 U.S. Census, arguing that the actual total is higher than what has been reported. Current 2020 Census data lists the county’s population at 28,003, only a 3% increase from 10 years earlier.

Only days remain for White County residents to be counted in the 2020 Census.

Have you been counted yet? Census takers will begin Aug. 11 follow-up visits to households that have not responded. If you haven’t yet completed the 2020 Census on your own, you may still fill it out online, by phone or using the form mailed in April. As of Aug. 5, 48.

White County is getting closer to having half of its residents complete the 2020 Census. An online tracker showed the county’s self-response rate 47.7% as of Tuesday, July 6. That still lags behind Georgia’s overall 57.8% and the national rate of 61.9%.
