A rabid raccoon in the Brookwood Village Drive area is the 17th confirmed rabies case in White County for 2020. According to Sean Sullivan, White County Environmental Health Manager, on Thursday, Sept. 10, a dog was let out to use the bathroom in a fenced yard.

A rabid skunk in the Grover Miles Road area is the 16th confirmed rabies case in White County for 2020. According to Sean Sullivan, White County Environmental Health Manager, on Wednesday, Sept. 9, a dog owner found a dead skunk in the pen with his dog.
There have been 659 total confirmed COVID-19 cases in White County since the start of the pandemic, according to the update  on Sunday, Sept. 13, on the Georgia Department of Public Health's website.

Cleveland has new assisted living facility

White County’s newest assisted living facility has opened its doors in Cleveland. Laurel Lodge Assisted Living and Memory Care is welcoming visitors to the site and to discuss leasing.
White County children will be able to receive free school meals until Dec. 31, 2020, thanks to a federal waiver.

Time is running out to complete the 2020 Census. Residents yet to complete the questionnaire have through Wednesday, Sept. 30, to respond online, by phone or by mail. Census takers also will stop making follow-up visits to homes at that time.
