Pets of the week for the week of April 13 from Charles Smithgall Humane Society. At Charles Smithgall Humane Society, Diesel is 9 ½ -year-old American bulldog/boxer mix. He’s a big love bug who’s been only sweet since arriving after his owner passed. Diesel weighs 77 pounds.

SECAC holding events for Child Abuse Prevention Month

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month, and the South Enotah Children’s Advocacy Center (SECAC) is promoting multiple events this month to raise awareness for the cause.

The city of Cleveland plans to raise water and sewer rates, as well as fees for building permits and solid waste collection. Each pricing adjustment is related to a need to keep up with the increasing cost of doing business, said City Administrator Tom O’Bryant.

Who knew that when teachers and students said goodbye on March 13, they would be saying goodbye for the rest of the year? Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp announced April 1 that k-12 public schools would remain closed for the rest of the school year to help control the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus.
