White County High School’s graduation rate is back on an upswing. The 2019 WCHS graduation rate was 92.5 percent, up from 88.3 percent in 2018, according to data released last week by the Georgia Department of Education.

BOE purchases land for planned WCHS growth

The White County Board of Education approved the purchase of nearly 15 acres adjacent to White County High School, as part of a plan to add a performing arts center. School Superintendent Dr. Laurie Burkett says the need for a performing arts center has been talked about for a while.

In a week, the White County Warriors will step on the football field for the first time against a team wearing a different color uniform. Next Thursday, Aug. 15, the Warriors head to Toccoa for a preseason scrimmage with the Stephens County Indians.

The White County School System held a back to school pep rally for administrators, faculty and staff on Monday, Aug. 5, at White County Middle School. The school was decorated with a red carpet runway (shown above) to celebrate those who will welcome students back this year.
