Smithgall Rescue Re-Tail marks growth

The Smithgall Rescue Re-Tail Thrift Store will mark its one-year anniversary on Aug. 13 in a different location than when it began, but that’s a sign of good things for the operation raising funds for the Charles Smithgall Humane Society. The store opened August 2020 in a shopping center on U.S.

Contested race emerges for City Council

With candidate qualifying next week for city elections later this year, one race appears to already be forming for Cleveland,  and a Helen incumbent does not plan to seek another term. Qualifying for those elections is scheduled for Aug. 16-20. Election Day will be Tuesday, Nov. 2.

CJ McDonald says he plans to qualify for the Ward 4 seat on the Cleveland City Council, currently held by Bradley Greene. McDonald, 30, is a project manager for Charles Black Construction Company in Cleveland.
