Local Easter events start this weekend

Staff reports There’s plenty of Easter fun for families to hop around to in White County over the next couple of weekends. Saturday, April 12 Unicoi State Park will have an East Fun Fest from 10 a.m. to noon at the Bottoms at Smith Creek.

'A Game Changer'

by Linda Erbele White County News   The White County jail has recently acquired a TEK 84 scanner that helps jail personnel identify any kind of contraband that an arrested person may be bringing with them into jail. “It’s a game changer for the sheriff’s office,” Sheriff Rick Kelley said.

Supporters press for library funding

by Linda Erbele White County News   Rush and Sharon Mauney live in a house that was built in 1894. Over the years it has served as a residence, a boarding house and a youth center. In the 1930’s, White County had traveling judges, and they stayed in those rooms.
