Cleveland denies appeal of penalty

by Linda Erbele White County News   The Cleveland City Council, at its March 3 meeting, denied an appeal of a financial penalty assessed against a construction company. The $1,147.60 penalty was assessed against New Bridge Construction for working prior to the issuance of a permit on Feb. 21.

City, businesses debate cause of sinkhole

by Basil Ray White County News   White County businesses are still being affected by a sudden sinkhole that opened in a parking lot between Dalton Eye Care and Anytime Fitness. The sinkhole is being repaired quickly and efficiently as the cause of the sinkhole is now under further investigation.

White County Fire Services promotes Taylor

WinterFest 2025 showcases the best of local and regional art

Staff reports   Locals to White County and tourists alike went home with a surplus of hand-crafted goods this weekend. That is, if they attended last weekend’s WinterFest. The 2025 WinterFest Arts Tour, hosted by the Sautee Nacoochee Center, saw great attendance across all four sites this year.

Staff reports   When Steve Khale, owner of Mountain Marble and Tile on U.S. 129, arrived at his office Feb. 14 to begin operations, he witnessed a truly upsetting situation unfold before him as his entire workshop had been submerged waist-high in water.
