Warrior runners make podium push

Last year, the White County High School cross country program made history at the Class AAAA state meet. For the first time in program history, the girls and boys teams both posted Top 5 finishes at the Georgia State Cross Country Championships.

Lady Warriors' depth key to 2019 hopes

For the White County softball program, the goal never changes. The Lady Warriors want to compete for a region title and play in the state tournament every year, and the 2019 season is no different.

Warriors put on the pads

In a week, the White County Warriors will step on the football field for the first time against a team wearing a different color uniform. Next Thursday, Aug. 15, the Warriors head to Toccoa for a preseason scrimmage with the Stephens County Indians.

Warriors attend Falcons' practice session

A group of White County High School football players got a chance last weekend to get a close look at the Atlanta Falcons. The WCHS players were special guests of the Falcons during a practice session July 27 at the team's headquarters in Flowery Branch.

WCHS runners wrap up summer program

It's been a hot summer, but the high temperatures and humidity hasn't kept the White County High School cross country runners from putting in some work. The Warrior runners have been pounding the pavement since June, preparing for the 2019 season.

Bass earns fourth trip to national race

Cleveland’s Wyatt Bass is headed back to the dirt bike racing national stage. Bass, an 11-year-old, has qualified once again for the largest amateur motocross race in the world – the 38th Annual Rocky Mountain ATV/MC AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship. The event will be held July 30-Aug.

Sosebee excels in SWB bullpen

Through the first four months of the season, White County High School graduate David Sosebee has been a standout in Scranton/ Wilkes Barre's bullpen. In his first full season at the Triple A level, Sosebee has carved out a  premium spot among the RailRiders' relief pitching corps.

Craig earns a spot in Team Georgia lineup

White County High School golfer Catie Craig is making some noise this summer on the Georgia State Golf Association junior tour. In June, Craig was one of six players to earn a spot on Team Georgia for the 2019 Georgia-South Carolina Girls' Junior Challenge in August.

Locals run in Peachtree Road Race

On July 4, Atlanta hosted the 50th AJC Peachtree Road Race – and for 35 of those years, local runner Jim Crawford has gone start to finish. Crawford, 79, began participating in the race in 1984 as an experienced long-distance runner with previous marathons to his credit.
