The White County Lady Warriors split a pair of matches last week in Cleveland. The Lady Warriors dropped the opening match to Lumpkin County in three sets, but bounced back to knock off Stephens County in the straight sets.

Cason hired as county manager

The White County Board of Commissioners hired Joey Cason as county manager during a called meeting Tuesday. Cason, currently executive director of the Camden County Public Service Authority, is set to begin his new post Sept. 20. He was the sole finalist announced by commissioners Aug. 10.

The White County High School runners kicked off the 2021 cross country season last week with a stage race in Commerce. WCHS took part in the North Georgia Two Mile State Races at East Jackson High School, along with more than a dozen schools from the area.
