Middle school teams gearing up for MAC tourney

The White County Middle School basketball closes out the regular season this afternoon, and then will turn their attention to the Mountain Athletic Conference tournament next week.

Seventh grade students at White County Middle School will be on virtual learning classes from Tuesday, Nov. 17 through Friday, Nov. 20, due to multiple new positive COVID-19 tests and precautionary quarantines. Students will return after Thanksgiving break on Monday, Nov. 30.

WCMS shuts out Fannin, 18-0

The White County Middle School football used a stellar defensive effort last week to win its first league title in more than a decade. The Warriors (6-1) closed out the year with an 18-0 win over Fannin County, giving the Warriors the Mountain Athletic Conference eighth-grade championship.

White County Middle School’s Project Unify club recently helped achieve a first in Georgia. WCMS just became the first school in the state to be recognized as a Special Olympics National Unified Champion School, says Julie Collins, club sponsor and seventh-grade ELA teacher.

Jr. Beta Clubs bring home national awards

Junior Beta Clubs at White County Middle School and Mossy Creek Elementary School have garnered several awards from a virtual national convention.
