White County Rotary Club builds on its history of student scholarship support

For more than 25 years, the White County Rotary Club’s scholarship program has supported dozens of local graduates through college. At the club’s weekly meeting on May 11, Rotarians honored the two newest recipients of the financial award – Madison Adams and Cassandra Satterlee-Ortiz.

Single-vehicle accident results in DUI charge

One person has been charged following a single-vehicle accident on U.S. 129 North on Saturday, May 8. According to a White County Sheriff’s Office accident report, Jose Cabrera-Lopez, 41, of Hiawassee, was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Tahoe southbound on U.S. 129 North.

One person was seriously injured in a wreck on Friday, May 7, on Ga. 75 and Tray Mountain Road. Julie McCleese, 56, of Clarkesville, was driving a 2019 Hyundai on Ga. 75 when she failed to maintain her lane and crossed the centerline, according to the Georgia State Patrol accident report.
