by Samantha Sinclair White County News   White County 4-H had two students place in the Top 3 in the state for the Georgia 4-H State Pumpkin Growing Contest this year. Drew Eason a fourth grader from Mt. Yonah Elementary School won first place with his 253-pound pumpkin.

by Samantha Sinclair White County News   Election Day is Tuesday, but a majority of registered voters have already cast ballots. At the end of the day Tuesday, 50.6 percent of voters in White County had cast ballots either in person or through absentee by mail ballots.

Schools adding two SROs for safety

by Samantha Sinclair White County News   Two more school resource officers will be keeping White County schools safe soon. On Monday night, the White County Board of Commissioners approved White County Sheriff Rick Kelley’s request to add the two officers, known commonly as SROs, to his staff.

Great Helen Duck Race returns this weekend

Staff Report   On Saturday, Helen will have its ducks in a row. The Great Helen Duck Race returns for its ninth year on Saturday, Oct. 26. The event, hosted by Family Promise of White and Habersham, offers a $5,000 cash prize to the first place finisher.

Voter turnout nearing record

by Samantha Sinclair White County News   This is looking like a record year for voting. As of the end of the day Tuesday, 6,812 people had already voted early in person in White County, according to data provided by the White County Elections and Registrations Office.
