by Samantha Sinclair White County News   Helen will continue its tradition of ringing in the new year with the 9th Annual Dropping of the Edelweiss. The celebration, presented by the Helen Chamber of Commerce, will begin at 8 p.m. Saturday at the Festhalle, 1074 Edelweiss Strasse.

Year in review: 2022 brings change, honors

Editor’s note: White County saw many changes in the past year, from new leaders to new laws to plans for new buildings. It also saw many residents honored, like veteran Andy Negra, writer Jerry Grillo, and students Ruth Davidson, Rachel Harris and Anthony Johnson.

by Linda Erbele White County News   The past year has brought many new faces to leadership positions in White County. County manager Mike Renshaw began work on July 11, having worked in county administration positions both in Georgia and Colorado.

Every year, National Jr. Beta Club has its Georgia state convention in Savannah the week after Thanksgiving. White County Middle School took 42 members, and brought home nine awards, qualifying students for the national convention.
