Repairs start on parkway

by Linda Erbele White County News   White County residents – and tourists in the know– have taken advantage of the last phase of the Appalachian Parkway, also known as Hulsey Road. That phase widened the existing road to improve the flow of traffic.

Mentoring program starts

by Samantha Sinclair White County News   Every week, Haley Hobson visits Tesnatee Gap Elementary not to see one of her own kids, but to listen to a young brother and sister who just need someone to talk to and be there for them. “They just feel comfort in that,” Hobson said.

Ratigan reaches STAR status as WCHS reveals top students

by Samantha Sinclair White County News   Daniel Ratigan had a goal. He wanted to go to Georgia Tech, but to get in, he needed not only a high SAT score, he needed a high math score on the SAT. He took the test for the first time during the spring semester of his sophomore year and got a 1420.

Ravan joins brother, six percent as newest Eagle Scout

by Samantha Sinclair White County News   Troop 140’s newest Eagle Scout improved a project his brother completed just two years ago. Trenton Ravan earned the highest rank in Boy Scouts of America Jan. 5, and was recognized at an Eagle Court of Honor ceremony Saturday.

Fire destroys Cleveland home

Both White County Fire Services and Cleveland Fire Department responded to a call about a residential fire on Hiawatha Hills Road in Cleveland Saturday shortly before 9 p.m. Once on the scene, firefighters reported a fully involved mobile home.

Helen remembers one of its original supporters
