by Torie Buck White County News   Braxten Palmer knows that while driving a delivery truck, you can get in some pretty tight spots. Palmer, a student in the work-based learning program, has been able to get his commercial driver’s license working with B&M Metals.

by Bill Kinsland Correspondent This shrub is an ornamental hybrid which is a cross of two other species from China. The hybrid was created in Gottingen Botanical Garden in Germany in 1878 and imported into the United States about 1889. It is a member of the Olive Family (Oleaceae).

by Linda Erbele White County News   The White County Board of Commissioners approved seeking an application for an Assistance to Firefighters Grant through the Federal Emergency Management Agency at a called meeting Feb. 27. Depending on what is granted, the award could be as high as $552,227.

Celebrate the return of the cows this weekend

The iconic Nacoochee Mound and its surrounding pasture, on the grounds of the historic Hardman Farm, is also home to cattle for 10 months of the year. These dairy cattle are being raised to become milking cows. The field is vacated every winter to sustain the meadow.

Fire levels home on Starlight

White County and Helen firefighters responded Wednesday, Feb. 22 to a report of a fire at a home on Starlight Drive in Sautee Nacoochee. The first units to arrive reported that the home was fully involved and confirmed that it was unoccupied.
