STR debate gets heated

by Linda Erbele White County News   At its regular meeting Feb. 6, White County Commissioners heard from two citizens unhappy about the state of short-term rentals in the county. Lillian Hall addressed the board, telling them that STRS are becoming the “scourge of White County.

Car in multi-county chase hits patrol cars

by Linda Erbele White County News   A Chatsworth man led a high-speed chase on Ga. Highway 115 from White County into Lumpkin County Monday, managing to damage patrol cars from both counties in his flight. Jody Shea, 54, was spotted by a White County deputy about 9:15 p.m.

by Linda Erbele White County News   Steve Neal knows why the short-term rental issue is such a big one for White County. “You’ve got a slice of heaven up here. Everyone wants to come!” he said. Neal and his wife Anne have had a cabin in White County since 2003.

The United Way of White County has topped its campaign goal of $80,000, with distribution of funding to more than a dozen local not-for-profit organizations scheduled for Feb. 23.
