Juneteenth marked with celebration

The Sautee Nacoochee Center, in conjunction with the Nacoochee United Methodist Church, held a Juneteenth Recognition and Remembrance ceremony on Saturday, June 18. Juneteenth National Independence Day Act commemorates its second year as a Federal holiday. It’s origin is much older.

On June 10, 2022, The Georgia Bureau of Investigation - Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office and the White County Sherriff’s Office arrested two individuals involved with the overdose death of Dylan Jimmy Grizzle of Cleveland.

This weekend, a group of colorful hot air balloons will descend upon Helen for the annual Helen to Atlantic Hot Air Balloon Race. This event will be held on the mornings and evenings of Thursday, June 2 through Saturday, June 4.

Freudenberg NOK donates over $50,000 to WCHS industrial maintenance program

White County High School's industrial maintenance program has received a boost from the Cleveland plant of Freudenberg-NOK Sealing Technologies. Company representatives presented a check for $57,630 to the White County Board of Education on Thursday, Sept. 26.

White County has first confirmed rabies case of 2019

A recent incident on Paradise Valley Road is White County’s first confirmed case of rabies in 2019. On Saturday, Aug. 10, homeowners alerted by barking outside found a skunk chasing their dog in its kennel, according to White County Environmental Health Manager Sean Sullivan.

Crush Fest set to celebrate 10 years
