Warriors beat East Hall in extra innings, 5-4

The White County Warriors staged a late rally to knock off East Hall 5-4 last Friday in the season opener. The Warriors scored three times in the fifth inning to erase the Viking's early 3-0 lead, and then added a run in the sixth inning and a run in the eighth inning to pick up the win.

With a second straight trip to the Sweet 16 hanging in the balance, the White County Lady Warriors couldn't get past No. 8 Coahulla Creek Tuesday night in the opening round of the Class AAA state tournament, falling 64-60.

Warriors fall short in region title battle

In high school basketball, it's hard to beat a good team three times during the season, and unfortunately for the White County Warriors that proved to be true Tuesday night in the Region 7-AAA championship game.
Last week in Macon, Devin Sullens and Sidney Sullens climbed to the highest level in high school wrestling by winning a state championship. Devin Sullens, a senior, capped off his prep career by winning the 220-pound title in the Class AAA tournament, while his younger sister, Sidney, a junior, captured the 142-pound title in the Girl's All-Classification tournament. WC soccer teams post wins in opening week

The White County High School soccer teams kicked off the 2021 season last week with a pair of games, stepping on the field for a regular season game for the first time in almost a year thanks to the Covid-19 pandemic. The WCHS squads took on Jefferson in the season opener Feb.

O'Bryant, Nix earn All-State honors

A pair of White County High School athletes were honored this week as seniors Eamonn O'Bryant and Sydnee Nix earned spots on the GaCrossCountry Class AAA All-State teams. O'Bryant  posted a seventh-place finish in the boy's race at the 2020 state meet in November, posting a time of 17:04.

Chasing history

Over the next few weeks, the White County High School basketball teams have a chance to do some special things, beginning with the Region 7-AAA tournament. Both of the WCHS teams will be in action Saturday, hoping to take the first step in what could be a very memorable postseason run.
