Warriors camp at JSU

The clock is ticking for the start of the 2021 high school football season. As of Friday, the Warriors have 28 days until they step on the field Aug. 13 to take on East Forsyth in a pre-season scrimmage game. Then seven days later, the regular season kicks off on Aug.

Warriors hold spring practice, look to reload

When spring football practice began last week at White County High School, things looked a little different. For the first time since Tim Cokely took over the program, he walked out on the practice field without the Class of 2021 players.

WCHS puts 11 on All Region football squad

A large contingent of White County football players are part of the 7-AAA All-Region team, which was announced late last week. The team is comprised of players from WCHS, Cherokee Bluff, North Hall, Dawson County, West Hall, Gilmer County and Lumpkin County.

Season ends

The 2020 high school football season came to a frustrating end last Friday night for the White County Warriors in the opening round of the Class AAA state playoffs. The Warriors dug themselves an early 20-0 hole in the matchup with No. 8 Rockmart and were never able to recover, falling 48-35.

Calling the Bears' bluff

For the first time since 2017, the White County Warriors have a ticket for the state high school football playoffs, and appear to be peaking at the right time after demolishing Cherokee Bluff last week in the regular season finale.

White County claims two Super Bowl titles

The White County Recreation Department youth football program picked up a pair of Mountain Athletic Conference Super Bowl IV titles last weekend at Chestatee High School.

Warrior trio set to play for MAC titles

Gilmer cancels Friday's game

For the first two months of the high school football season, the White County Warriors had managed to dodge any major issues related to the Covid-19 pandemic. But on Tuesday, the Warriors found out they won't be playing this week when Gilmer County had to cancel Friday's game due to pandemic issues.

Warrior defense blanks West Hall, 35-0

After a pair of tough losses to start the region schedule, the White County Warriors righted the ship last Friday night, celebrating Homecoming with a 35-0 victory over West Hall. The Warriors improved to 5-2 with the win, and 1-2 in 7-AAA play.

White County Middle School set to play for league title

UPDATE: The White County Middle School football team are Mountain Football Conference champions after winning their game on Thursday, Oct. 22. Details will be in the Oct. 29 issue of the White County News.
