In Cleveland, the Christmas in the Mountains celebration and parade will be this Saturday, Dec. 5, from 5-8 p.m., with the parade starting at 7 p.m. There will be vendors on the square as part of the holiday market, and a Christmas tree lighting in Freedom Park at 6:20 p.m. The parade will follow its normal route from Jack P. The White County Board of Elections will officially begin its oversight Jan. 1, just in time for the Jan. 5 runoff elections, but it will have some help in the transition.

Clermont woman charged with arson

A Clermont woman has been charged with two counts of arson related to an incident earlier this month. Jennifer Lynn Casillo, 31, was charged with first degree and third degree arson, as well as criminal damage to property. The charges stem from a Nov.
