White County School System has a new system-wide spelling bee champion.
Fifth-grader Alli Daves took the top honor after she correctly spelled “turret” at the spelling bee on Tuesday, Jan. 14.

The City of Helen will be conducting a smoke test to determine infiltration and inflow of rainwater into the sewer system.
Fletcher Holliday, with Engineering Management Inc. (EMI), spoke to the commission about issues the city is having with their sewer system collecting rainwater.

Injuries reported in Tuesday fire

A fire Tuesday evening resulted in a man receiving life-threatening injuries, according to a public safety report.
Firefighters with White County and the City of Cleveland responded to a report of a structure fire on Stansel Road off Adair Mill Road around 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan.
