State Rep. Terry Rogers says he will not seek re-election

State Rep. Terry Rogers (R-Clarkesville), who represents White County in House District 10, announced Monday morning he would not seek re-election this year.

Rep. Gurtler to run for Congress

State Rep. Matt Gurtler, whose district includes part of White County, plans to run for Congress. The Republican from Tiger announced Wednesday morning, Feb. 12, he will join the field of candidates seeking the Ninth Congressional District seat that has been held by Doug Collins of Gainesville.

Mayor candidates to speak at forum

Voters will have a chance to hear directly from Cleveland mayoral candidates at a forum planned for Thursday, Feb. 27. Annie Sutton and Josh Turner will take part in the event, presented by the White County Chamber of Commerce’s Governmental Affairs Committee, the White County News and WRWH 93.

A WEEK OF WILD WEATHER

It was a crazy weather week for White County, from flooding to snow to even more rain. It began on Thursday, Feb. 6, when White County, along with most of Georgia, was hit with a downpour. This resulted in multiple road closures throughout the county due to flooding or damage.

Ramey joins field for sheriff’s race

Jeff Ramey is the latest to announce plans to run for sheriff. Ramey, 52, says he will run as a Republican in a bid to bring change to White County Sheriff’s Office operations.

Saturday weather update

Saturday morning snow blanketed White County.  According to David Murphy, director of White County Public Safety, as of 10 a.m. there has been one inch of measurable snow accumulation at the EOC. Murphy said there have been several minor accidents throughout the county.
