Higher rates of confirmed COVID-19 infections continue in White County. The seven-day moving average of confirmed cases reached another high mark for the county at a rate of 38 new reports per day on Sept. 7, according a daily update by Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH).

White County’s seven-day moving average of confirmed COVID-19 case reports has reached a new high for the pandemic, according to the Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH). An Aug. 31 update from DPH showed the average at 34.6 cases, eclipsing the previous high of 30 cases on Jan.

All races in Cleveland and Helen municipal elections will be contested after 10 candidates qualified last week. Cleveland City Council Ward 3 incumbent Kevin Stanley will be challenged by Jeremy McClure, while Ward 4 incumbent Bradley Greene will contend with CJ McDonald.

COVID cases climb; state begins booster vaccines on limited scale

COVID-19 cases in White County have climbed to levels similar to those seen during the fall and winter when the community experienced its highest infection rates. The county’s seven-day moving average of daily reported COVID-19 cases had reached 24.1 as of a Aug.

Tropical Storm Fred brought flooding to many areas in White County on Tuesday, Aug. 17. White County officials, the city of Cleveland, and city of Helen, were busy most of Tuesday with storm-related issues.
