Some positive things are happening with the White County Recreation Department as it begins to open some of it's facilities during the COVID-19 pandemic. WCRD Joe Gailey the latest news this week, including announcing the opening of several fields for use with baseball, softball, and soccer.

GHSA mulls plans to restart activities

The Georgia High School Association is expected to soon announce a plan for restarting high school sports. And the first phase could come as early as June 1. GHSA executive director Dr.

TMU adds lights to outdoor facilities

When the upcoming sports season kicks off later this year for the Truett McConnell soccer, softball, baseball teams, they will be able to play night games for the first time in school history.

Truett McConnell's Dawson Day has been named to the 2020 NAIA PING All-America third team and the 2020 NAIA PING South All-Region team. "Dawson has had a tremendous career at TMU," Head Coach Steve Patton said.

High school teams play waiting game as GHSA mulls future plans

Sautee-Nacoochee's Sinéad O’Bryan has been honored with an Academic Excellence Award in Biological Sciences by the Augusta University College of Science & Mathematics. She is a member of the AU cross-country and track and field team and has been recognized as a two-time NCAA Academic All-American.

Warrior squads had big plans for lost season

This week, White County High School was set to host the Region 7-AAAA track meet. But instead of running, jumping, throwing, and competing, the WCHS athletes, along with all of the other track athletes from around the state, are sitting at home due to the coronavirus pandemic.
