The White County Senior Center remains closed to the public amid COVID-19 precautions, but it has continued serving others during the trying times of the pandemic.

County Manager Mike Melton received a surprise sendoff Wednesday, April 29, with county employees and officials holding a drive-by retirement celebration. Melton, along with wife Deborah, was greeted by a caravan of vehicles through the parking lot of the county government offices.

Residents encouraged to vote by mail in upcoming election

With the coronavirus pandemic still looming and early voting scheduled to start next month, election officials are encouraging residents to take advantage of absentee ballots.

Weaver introduced as fire chief in pinning ceremony

White County introduced Seth Weaver as its new fire chief this week, while giving a retirement sendoff to two of its fire service veterans. Weaver was ceremonially pinned as the new chief at an event Monday, April 27, in the county’s emergency operations center.
