The 2021 Helen Trout Tournament has been postponed  to April 3 due high water from the recent storms. It was originally scheduled for this Saturday, March 27. According to a press release from the Greater Helen Area Chamber of Commerce, the Festhalle will be open from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

DeWitt Weaver made his mark as a professional golfer, but it was more than his prowess on the fairway that left an impression on those who knew  him. Weaver, a former golf pro for Innsbruck Golf Club in Helen, died March 18 at 81.

The unemployment rate in White County dipped slightly in January, according to preliminary figures from the Georgia Department of Labor. The county’s jobless rate of 3.4% is down from the official 3.6% in December. The rate was 2.6% in January 2020.
