DNR regional supervisor dies after hit by car

The Georgia Department of Natural Resources is mourning the loss of Capt. Stan Elrod, supervisor for the Region 2 office in Gainesville.
Elrod, 49, of Danielsville, died after being struck by a car while training near a roadside shoulder in Madison County Sept. 3, the DNR announced last week.

Man charged for material depicting minor in sexually explicit conduct

A Sautee Nacoochee man was charged with three counts of possess or control any material depicting minor in sexually explicit conduct.
Wilson Franklin Beavers, 61, was arrested by the Georgia Bureau of Investigations on Tuesday, Sept. 1. No other information was provided.

White County is approaching 600 total confirmed cases of COVID-19, according to the Georgia Department of Public Health.
The DPH’s Sept. 8 date of symptom onset report listed 593 confirmed cases in White County since the first one was reported in mid-March.

Development of one of the largest subdivisions in White County in recent years is moving closer to completion.
The White County Planning Commission approved a final plat for the roughly 179-acre Yonah Mountain Lake subdivision on Sept. 8, contingent upon completion and inspection of roads.
