DNR regional supervisor dies after hit by car

The Georgia Department of Natural Resources is mourning the loss of Capt. Stan Elrod, supervisor for the Region 2 office in Gainesville. Elrod, 49, of Danielsville, died after being struck by a car while training near a roadside shoulder in Madison County Sept. 3, the DNR announced last week.

Development of one of the largest subdivisions in White County in recent years is moving closer to completion. The White County Planning Commission approved a final plat for the roughly 179-acre Yonah Mountain Lake subdivision on Sept. 8, contingent upon completion and inspection of roads.
