A new ministry that aims to get people together through coffee and music has recently started meeting in White County.
Ground Zero Outreach is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit started by Geary and Karen Camp in 2020 as a way to encourage people from all ways of life to come together.

The 48th annual Helen to the Atlantic Balloon Race and Festival has arrived, scheduled for June 3-5.

Hall County wreck claims life of Cleveland woman, two others

A Cleveland woman was among three people who died in a Sunday crash in Hall County.
The two-vehicle wreck happened on Ga. 365 just south of Kubota Way around 12:10 a.m. on May 30, according to information released June 1 by the Hall County Sheriff’s Office.

Pedestrian dies after being hit on Helen Highway

A Gainesville woman died after being struck by a vehicle while crossing Ga. 75 (Helen Highway) near Tom Bell Road on May 29.
Rosa Alba Perez, 63, was heading east on the highway, not in a crosswalk, when she was hit by a northbound 2002 Nissan Frontier, according to a report from Cpl. B.D.

Friday's WCHS graduation delayed an hour due to weather

The start of White County High School's graduation May 28 has been delayed an hour due to impending inclement weather, according to a Friday afternoon announcement.
The event will now begin at 9 p.m. instead of the originally scheduled 8 p.m. Stadium gates will open at 7 p.m.

Bears finish season at NAIA golf tournament

The Truett McConnell men's golf team wrapped up the 2021 season with a trip to the NAIA National Championships last week in Silvis, Illinois.
The Bears finished 22nd after two rounds of play, and missed making the cut for the final two rounds of the tournament by seven strokes.
