Warriors swing at Apple Mountain

The White County boy's golf team posted tied for fifth-pace at the Apple Mountain Invitational last weekend in Clarkesville. The Warriors were one of 16 teams in the annual golf tournament. Gainesville and Etowah tied at 288, with the Red Elephants winning the title due to a tiebreaker.

Warriors stay unbeaten in 7-AAA play

The White County Warriors rolled to a 12-2 win Monday over Dawson County to keep pace in the Region 7-AAA race. The win over the Tigers came on the heels of a three-game sweep over Lumpkin County during the opening week of region play.

Package stores in Helen could soon be allowed to host tasting events. At its March 16 meeting, the Helen City Commission unanimously approved amending the city ordinance to allow tastings at package stores that sell distilled spirits.

Officer struck as car flees traffic stop

A Maysville man has been arrested after allegedly striking a Cleveland Police Department officer with his car in an attempt to flee a traffic stop. The officer initially pulled the vehicle over March 16 on U.S. 129 for an equipment violation around 2:20 p.m.
