The Cleveland Downtown Development Authority will start meeting again after a four-year hiatus. City Administrator Tom O’Bryant made the announcement during the Monday, March 9, meeting of the Cleveland City Council.
An open house for the City of Cleveland’s renovation of the former Oak Springs elementary school will be held Monday, March 16, from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

An open house for the City of Cleveland’s renovation of the former Oak Springs elementary school will be held Monday, March 16, from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. The building will become the the temporary home of the Cleveland Police Department and City Council meetings.

A newly renovated addition to downtown Cleveland is open, which will eventually be home to three businesses. The Cleveland Drug Plaza on West Kytle Street, owned by local businessman Ray Black, welcomed Nate’s Barbershop as its first occupant March 2.

The two Cleveland mayoral candidates had a chance to appeal to voters last week in a forum before early voting started this week for the special election. The forum was hosted by the White County Chamber of Commerce, in conjuction with the White County News and WRWH 93.9 FM Radio.

Juveniles cause damage at Freedom Park with wreck

A car chase early Monday morning came to an end in Freedom Park, and resulted in some damage.  White County Sheriff’s Office deputies were involved in a vehicle pursuit on Ga. 115 that started around Dock Dorsey Road on Monday, Feb. 17. Around 2:15 a.m.

Mayor candidates to speak at forum

Voters will have a chance to hear directly from Cleveland mayoral candidates at a forum planned for Thursday, Feb. 27. Annie Sutton and Josh Turner will take part in the event, presented by the White County Chamber of Commerce’s Governmental Affairs Committee, the White County News and WRWH 93.
The City of Cleveland will be examining possible water and sewer rate adjustments in relation to potential funding assistance for wastewater treatment upgrades.
