With the start of a new month, White County has seen over 300 confirmed COVID-19 cases during the pandemic. According to the Georgia Department of Public Health, as of Tuesday, Aug. 4, White County has 308 confirmed cases.
There have been 302 total confirmed COVID-19 cases in White County since the start of the pandemic, according to the update on Monday, Aug. 3, on the Georgia Department of Public Health's website.

New dates for the Second Annual Alpine Helen Songwriters Festival have been announced. The festival was originally scheduled to take place in March, but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It is now set to take place Friday, Aug. 14, starting at 6 p.m., and Saturday, Aug.

No Oktoberfest at Festhalle

The music, dancing and mingling of Oktoberfest will be missing from the Helen Festhalle this year, though the city still expects to welcome visitors for the seasonal celebration.
