The Helen City Commission discussed the ideas at its Sept. 10 meeting after Commissioner Steve Fowler said he wanted the commissioners to consider installing traffic cameras at two intersections in downtown Helen.

Celebrating in the streets

The 50th anniversary celebration of Alpine Helen will continue with a street dance this month.
The event will take place from 6-8 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 24, in the marketplatz in downtown Helen, said Jerry Brown, executive director of Alpine Helen/White County Georgia Convention & Visitors Bureau.
