White County hit record highs in sales tax revenue in consecutive months during the summer as the local economy bounced back from spring declines related to COVID-19.
There have been 892 total confirmed COVID-19 cases in White County since the start of the pandemic, according to the update  on Sunday, Oct. 4, on the Georgia Department of Public Health's website.

There have been 892 total confirmed COVID-19 cases in White County since the start of the pandemic, according to the update  on Sunday, Oct. 4, on the Georgia Department of Public Health's website. In White County there have been 101 hospitalizations and 19 deaths attributed to COVID-19.

Hot air balloons will fly in Helen Saturday in honor of first responders. Because of the coronavirus pandemic, many ballooning events have been cancelled, said Tarp Head of Tarp Head balloons. One such gathering was to take place Oct. 3, in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
The United Way of White County will host a pair of events to benefit its mission of directly funding more than a dozen not-for-profit organizations serving thousands of people in the community.
