Sixteenth rabies cases confirmed in White County for 2020

A rabid skunk in the Grover Miles Road area is the 16th confirmed rabies case in White County for 2020. According to Sean Sullivan, White County Environmental Health Manager, on Wednesday, Sept. 9, a dog owner found a dead skunk in the pen with his dog.
There have been 659 total confirmed COVID-19 cases in White County since the start of the pandemic, according to the update  on Sunday, Sept. 13, on the Georgia Department of Public Health's website.

There have been 659 total confirmed COVID-19 cases in White County since the start of the pandemic, according to the update  on Sunday, Sept. 13, on the Georgia Department of Public Health's website. In White County there have been 90 hospitalizations and 17 deaths attributed to COVID-19.

White County’s newest assisted living facility has opened its doors in Cleveland. Laurel Lodge Assisted Living and Memory Care is welcoming visitors to the site and to discuss leasing.

DNR regional supervisor dies after hit by car

The Georgia Department of Natural Resources is mourning the loss of Capt. Stan Elrod, supervisor for the Region 2 office in Gainesville. Elrod, 49, of Danielsville, died after being struck by a car while training near a roadside shoulder in Madison County Sept. 3, the DNR announced last week.
