White County is approaching 600 total confirmed cases of COVID-19, according to the Georgia Department of Public Health. The DPH’s Sept. 8 date of symptom onset report listed 593 confirmed cases in White County since the first one was reported in mid-March.

Development of one of the largest subdivisions in White County in recent years is moving closer to completion. The White County Planning Commission approved a final plat for the roughly 179-acre Yonah Mountain Lake subdivision on Sept. 8, contingent upon completion and inspection of roads.
There have been 592 total confirmed COVID-19 cases in White County since the start of the pandemic, according to the update  on Monday, Sept. 7, on the Georgia Department of Public Health's website.

There have been 592 total confirmed COVID-19 cases in White County since the start of the pandemic, according to the update  on Monday, Sept. 7, on the Georgia Department of Public Health's website. In White County there have been 86 hospitalizations and 15 deaths attributed to COVID-19.

Pets of the week for the week of Sept. 7 from Charles Smithgall Humane Society. Rufus is a beautiful one-year-old redbone Coonhound mix. He’s easy-going and calm and doesn’t tend to bark a lot. Rufus seems unbothered by other dogs.

A rabid raccoon in the Walking Horse Lane area is the 15th confirmed rabies case in White County for 2020. According to White County Environmental Health, on Tuesday, Sept. 1, a dog owner went outside when he heard some noise on his porch and discovered his dog fighting with a raccoon.

Folk Pottery Show & Arts Festival set for Saturday, Sept. 5

The Folk Pottery Museum of Northeast Georgia will host the 12th annual Folk Pottery Show & Arts Festival on Saturday, Sept. 5.  The event is planned for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Sautee Nacoochee Center, where the museum is located.

Arrest in mail stolen from five counties

A Clarkesville man has been charged with stealing mail from multiple North Georgia counties, including White County. Kristopher Beasley, 26, was arrested Aug. 23 after someone reported encountering a “suspicious character,” said Helen Police Department Capt. Mark Harris.
