Do you have a great photo of summertime on the lake? Have you caught a fabulous fish on an area lake? Lake Living is now accepting submissions for photography that could be featured on the cover of the magazine’s summer 2020 edition.

While COVID-19 cases persist, White County has received good news for its unemployment rate and tax revenues after experiencing an economic downturn in April related to the pandemic. Last Thursday the Georgia Department of Labor reported the county’s preliminary May unemployment rate was 6.

Shooting leaves one dead

A man is dead following a shooting just off Westmoreland Road on Tuesday, June 30. White County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a residence on Happy Hollow Road after a 911 call about a shooting, according to a press statement Wednesday from WCSO Capt. Clay Hammond.

There have been 142 total confirmed COVID-19 cases in White County since the start of the pandemic, according to the update on Tuesday, June 30, on the Georgia Department of Public Health's website. In White County there have been 28 hospitalizations and four deaths attributed to COVID-19.

Pets of the week for the week of June 29 from Charles Smithgall Humane Society. Corn Dog is a dream puppy. He’s about four months old. He has a sweet and calm demeanor, if a little shy. He’s well-behaved, smart and picks up training easily. He lives for belly rubs and ear scratches.

There have been 140 total confirmed COVID-19 cases in White County since the start of the pandemic, according to the update on Monday, June 29, on the Georgia Department of Public Health's website. In White County there have been 28 hospitalizations and four deaths attributed to COVID-19.

A rabid raccoon in the area of Dean Mountain Road is the 10th confirmed rabies case in White County for 2020. According to White County Environmental Health Manager Sean Sullivan, on Wednesday, June 17, at approximately 6 p.m. a dog owner saw his dog fighting with a raccoon and killing it.
