Ferguson to run for probate judge

White County attorney Don Ferguson has announced his plans to run for probate judge in 2020. Ferguson has been practicing law since 1993, all of that time being in White County.

Cleveland has set a special election to select a new mayor, following the recent resignation of Shan Ash. The special election will be Tuesday, March 24, as approved by the Cleveland City Council at its Monday, Jan. 6, meeting. Voting will take place that day from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Authorities respond for early morning fire

Firefighters battled a blaze at the former Silver Spur Skating Rink early Friday morning.  White County firefighters, with automatic aid from Cleveland and Lee Arrendale fire departments, responded to the commercial structure fire on Roller Rink Road at around 2 a.m. on Jan.

Community generosity helped the United Way of White County reach its 2020 fundraising goal of $85,000, which will be allocated to local organizations serving White County residents. United Way of White County campaign hits $85,000 mark

With plenty of backing from community supporters, the United Way of White County has reached its $85,000 fundraising goal for 2020. The successful campaign means the United Way of White County will be able to give $15,000 more to local service agencies than it did in 2019.
