Fire burns Skitts Mountain Road home

No injuries were reported at a house fire Wednesday, Dec. 11, on Skitts Mountain Road. White County firefighters, with automatic aid from the Cleveland Fire Department and the Lee Arrendale Fire Brigade, responded to the report of a house fire around 10 p.m.

United Way wraps Festival of Trees fundraiser with celebration

The annual Festival of Trees fundraiser for the United Way of White County concluded Friday, Dec. 6, with a Festival of Lights reception at Unicoi State Park & Lodge. The evening social featured appetizers, pictures with Santa, s’mores, a bonfire and entertainment.

WCMS, MCES Beta Clubs have successful state convention

The Jr. Beta Clubs at Mossy Creek Elementary School and White County Middle School have qualified for nationals after bringing home some serious hardware from the state conventions last week in Savannah. MCES took 28 students, and had five students place, said Deticia Chambers, the Jr.
