Car pursuit ends with arrest

A Forest Park man has been arrested, and is accused of striking a law enforcement vehicle during a multi-agency car pursuit that went through White County. Georgia State Patrol Post 27 troopers in Blue Ridge were notified Tuesday, Nov.

The Helen City Commission could require residences and businesses to display 911 address numbers as a way to aid emergency responders. Commissioners discussed the issue at their Tuesday Nov. 12, meeting as City Manager Jerry Elkins noted many places in the city do not have a visible 911 address.

New facility could bring 30+ jobs

A new assisted living facility in Cleveland could bring more than 30 jobs to the community. Construction is underway for a 57,000-square-foot building on Hope Drive, which runs off the Appalachian Parkway (Cleveland bypass).

White County School officials addressed rumors about threats made toward White County High School on Tuesday, Nov. 19. Assistant Superintendent Scott Justus said the rumors have been investigated and nothing was found.

Authorities responded on Monday, Nov. 18, at approximately 3:54 p.m. to a report of a fatal accident on Lynch Mountain Road.

A traffic stop in White County in September netted $120,000 worth of drugs. According to Trent Hillsman with the Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office, at approximately 2 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 13, White County deputies conducted a traffic stop on U.S. 129 in the area of Poppy Drive.
